Recently, the 15th National Social Practice and Science Competition on Energy Conservation & Emission Reduction for College Students came to an end at Tianjin University. SSPU team won 1 second prize and 4 third prizes. The university was awarded the title of Excellent Organizer Award.

National Social Practice and Science Competition on Energy Conservation & Emission Reduction for College Students is an A-level competition hosted by Department of Higher Education of Ministry of Education. It is considered as one of the most influential science innovation contests for college students in China. Since its launch this March, the competition has attracted 623 universities including 13 overseas universities to participate, among which domestic universities submitted 6,218 valid works. Both the number of participating institutions as well as that of the submitted works have reached a record high. Nearly a hundred experts from over 50 universities undertook the review.

SSPU Academic Affairs Office and School of Resources and Environmental Engineering jointly selected 15 works to take part in the national competition. Experienced experts from outside the campus were invited to provide instruction and training and tutor teams on campus to give guidance. The creative competition among energy-conservation and emission-reduction works in the fields of energy and resources fully demonstrates the innovative achievements of combining energy-conservation and emission-reduction theory with practice, and gathers innovative forces for therealization of the carbon peak and neutrality targets.

By taking part in the competition, the students' awareness of energy conservation, environmental protection, and scientific and technological innovation, and also teamwork spirit have been enhanced. Their abilities of innovative design, engineering practice and social investigation have been further improved as well.
