Secretary of SSPU Party Committee

 

 

Wu Song is Secretary of SSPU Party Committee. He assumed the role in March 2019.

 

Wu Song received the bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctorate from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) from September 1980 to April 1990. Since April 1990, he has successively served in SJTU as lecturer, associate professor and professor of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ph.D. supervisor of Research Institute of Higher Education, Deputy Director of Human Resources Office, Executive Vice Dean of Graduate School, assistant to President, standing member of CPC SJTU Committee, and Director of CPC SJTU Office of Organization. He has successively worked as Vice President of University of Shanghai from September 2006 to July 2013, Secretary of Shanghai Institute of Technology Party Committee from July 2013 to August 2015, and Secretary of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology Party Committee from August 2015 to March 2019.

 

His main teaching and research field is Mechanical Design and Theory. He used to be a member of Association of Chinese Graduate Schools, Vice Chairman of Organization for Graduate Entrepreneurship of Universities in Shanghai under Ministry of Education, a member of Mechanics Discipline Appraisal Group of Shanghai Academic Degrees Committee, and the fifth Vice Chairman of Shanghai Society for Modern Design Theory and Methodology Research, etc. And he is now the standing council member of Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association.

 

He was selected into Shanghai Technology Rising-Star Program in 1995, and was awarded Shanghai Excellent Youth Teacher in 1999, Excellent Talents Cultivation Award in 2004, Outstanding Contribution Award for Graduate Education by Chinese Society of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education in 2006, and the second prize of 2018 National Teaching Award. The essay written by Ph.D. students under his supervision won Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award of Chinese Society of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education in 2011.
