The vocational higher education of SSPU began enrollment since 1960s. College of International Vocational Education was founded in July 2014. The College has 21 programs and 4 departments, including Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Department of Economics Management and Department of Modern Services.

    

The College has a high-level and internationalized teaching force with 90 faculty including 5 professors, 25 associate professors (senior engineers), and foreign teachers with rich industrial experience from the U.S., Australia, Germany, Korea, etc.

 

The College develops Chinese-foreign joint education programs continuously. It has cooperation with TAFE Queensland, Australia, and founded Queensland College in which there are 5 programs includingInternational Business, Event Planning & Management, Applied English, Hospitality Management, and Computer Application Technology. The College cooperates with Broward College, U.S., and launched 2 Chinese-foreign joint education programs in regard to Logistics Management and Computer Network Technology. It also cooperates with Hong Kong CMM International Group and set up Image Design program. Bilingual teaching is carried out step by step and career-oriented curriculum system has been built in the Chinese-foreign joint programs to meet the demand of the industry. These programs also explore vocational education modes in China and foreign countries and promote practice and innovation of higher vocational education with foreign high-quality education resources.

    

College of International Vocational Education keeps promoting students' overseas study programs. It has signed scholarship program agreements with Gangneung-Wonju National University and Hallym University in Korea, and signed transfer program agreements with Central Queensland University, Australia, Youngsan University, Korea, Broward College, U.S., and SUNY Albany. Some of these programs can provide the chance to study for free. The College cooperates with universities in Belgium and TAFE Queensland, Australia, to carry out the student exchange and industry internship programs. Over 100 students of the College participate in the programs every year.

    

Based on industry-education integration and enterprise-university cooperation, the College has a long-term friendly partnership with COMAC, Shanghai Disney Resort, SAIC Group, Baosteel, Huawei and some other well-known enterprises. The College has established practical base for industry-teaching collaboration and improves students' professional skills through professional skills competitions and industry competitions at home and abroad.

    

During the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan,the College actively promotes the building of Shanghai modern vocational education system, improves top-level design with modern vocational education ideas, renews teachers' concept of vocational education and makes efforts to consolidate the leading position of SSPU with its traditional education characteristics.The College fully implements SSPU’s orientation of Profession-oriented Higher Education by actively exploring the training mode of various education systems in order to realize high-level, diversified and internationalized education.Adhering to the development path of international cooperation, industry-education integration and enterprise-university cooperation, the College absorbs advanced vocational education ideas from Germany, the United States, Sweden, Australia and Taiwan China and enhances international vocational education exchanges and cooperation to closely connect talent training with modern industrial system, aiming to train practical talents with vocational techniques, credit, characteristics and a global vision.
