On Sept. 27, SSPU GlobalPartnership Weekwas opened in the lecture hall of No. 19 Building. The theme of thePartnership Week was Industry & Education Integration. Li Yongzhi, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, presidents, experts and representatives of 21 universities and institutions from 12 countries and regions in the world, SSPU leaders Song Baoru, Yu Tao, Zou Longfei, Xu Yufa, heads of departments, offices, teaching and research units and representatives of teachers and students, attended the event. The opening ceremony and the theme forum was hosted by Vice President Xu Yufa. 

    Song Baoru, Secretary of SSPU Party Committee and Chairman of SSPU University Administration Committee, made a welcome speech and declared the opening of Global Partnership Week 2017.On behalf of the university,Secretary Song Baoru extended warm welcome and expressed sincere thanks to guests, old and new friends from afar. He said the international exchanges and cooperation of our university had been deepened and expanded in the last year and the university had kept long-term and steady exchanges and cooperation with more than 80 universities and institutions in over 30 countries and regions including the United States, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Australia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong China and Taiwan China. 45 cooperative agreements were signed with the universities and enterprises in countries and regions such as the United States, UK, Ireland, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, France, New Zealand and Taiwan China. Nearly 400 students participated in 62 overseas study and internship programs and nearly 280 teachers went abroad for visiting scholar program, visit, further study and training. Over 250 foreign students from 26 countries exchanged and studied in our university. Secretary Song pointed out that it was necessary to further promote theintegration of industry and education, continue exploring actively, and deepen reform. He hoped the experts and representatives at the event could speak their mind freely, explore the way of the reform, innovation, opening and development of education and make suggestions to further improve the quality of our university.

    On behalf of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Deputy Director Li Yongzhi extended his congratulations on the opening ofGlobal Partnership Week 2017. He said in his speech thatShanghai Polytechnic University had been promoting the connotation of the university and optimizing the layout of international exchanges and cooperation by adhering to the university motto “Living, Morality, Skill”and the orientation “Profession-oriented Higher Education”. Shanghai Polytechnic University has had a larger circle of friends and a wider road of internationalization by holding the GlobalPartnership Week. It has not only expanded breadth and depth of theinternational exchanges and cooperation of the university effectively but also has provided a platform and talent support for the university to have renewal ideas and a better management structure. He said, Shanghai will continue introducing high-quality educational resources, strengthen international cooperation and exchanges, promote bilateral exchange students program, encourage universities to strengthen international cooperation in scientific research and deepen the humanity exchanges of all kinds of educational talents. In the future, the universities in Shanghai will have more same ideas, achieve more effective cooperative results with the global partners. The cooperation has a broader prospect to develop.

    At the following theme forum, Secretary Song Baoru and the presidents, professors and experts from Sweden, the United States, Ireland, Finland, Russia, the Netherlands, Australia, Norway, Germany and Taiwan China made speeches with the theme ofIndustry & Education Integration. They shared their ideas, experience and special measures in the regards of education, the development of internationalization and the integration of industry & education.

    After the theme forum, President Yu Tao signed Memorandum of Understanding with Rector Yulia Antokhina of Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation (Russia), signed Memorandum of Understanding and Double Degree Agreement with President Mervi Vidgrén of Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and signed the Agreement for Exchange Students with Molly Gribb, Dean of College of Engineering, Math & Science of University of Wisconsin-Platteville (USA). Cao Jianqing, Director of College of Engineering, signed the Agreements for Student Exchange and Teacher Training with Benny Lövström, Vice Dean of Engineering of Blekinge Institute of Technology (Sweden). The guests and the representatives of Global Partnership Week witnessed the signing ceremony.
