The New Year Party forinternationalstudents was held in Conference Hall 301 of Academic Exchange Center on Dec. 27.The university leaders Song Baoru, Xie Huaqing, and the heads of relevant departments, colleges and schools, etc.had a joyous gathering with the faculty and staff, Chinese andinternationalstudents ofSchool of International Exchange to celebrate the new year. The party was hosted by Office of International Student Affairs and undertaken byInternational Students Association. The party was presided over in turn by Meng Zhaoshang, Director of Office of International Student Affairs, Chen Yawen, a student from Laos and Yu Long, a student from Zimbabwe.

　　The party started with an enthusiastic speech by Secretary Song. Secretary Song fully affirmed the development of the education ofinternationalstudents of our university and gave a New Year message to theinternationalstudents. He hoped they could not only learn Chinese traditional culture but also know about the development path to the prosperity and strength of China today. The foreign students were expected to be international talents to help to realize the great initiative of One Belt and One Road and to be bridges and ties to connect China and their own countries and other countries around the world.

　　Vice President Xie Huaqing issued letters of appointment to the President and Vice President of International Students Association at the party and encouraged them to study hard and work hard in the Association to show the good style and features of the International students of Shanghai Polytechnic University.

　　The splendid programs at the party included dances performed by the students from Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Laos and Thailand, songs by the students from Zimbabwe and songs by the exchange students from South Korea, etc. The audience and the guests felt the New Year atmosphere at the party.
