On the morning of Sept. 27, 2019 SSPU Global Partnership Week opened at Academic Exchange Center. Chen Feng, Director of National Center for Schooling Development Programme, Xuan Fuzhen, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, presidents, experts and representatives of 27 universities (enterprises) from 15 countries and regions attended the event. SSPU leaders, heads of administrative offices, colleges and schools, teacher and student representatives participated in the activities as well. Vice President Mo Liangjin presided over the opening ceremony and the Forum.

Wu Song, Party Secretary of SSPU Party Committee delivered a welcome speech and announced the opening of 2019 SSPU Global Partnership Week. He said that the annually held Global Partnership Week has become an important platform for SSPU international cooperation and exchange after five-year development. This year, the theme of the Global Partnership Week is “Better University, Better City”. Participants shared and exchanged ideas about the subthemes—Smart Education & Smart City, Innovative City Construction & University Science Park, Revolution of New Science and Technology & Faculty Capability Building, Education Accreditation and University & City. He also encouraged open dialogues from the experts, scholars and representatives to discuss university reform and innovation, and openness and development, giving suggestions on SSPU reform and innovation, talent cultivation and future development. With the joint efforts, the Forum will become a communication platform for information interaction, academic exchange, experience sharing and cooperative development.

Mr. Xuan Fuzhen, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, delivered a speech in which he expected universities of China and foreign countries could enhance the all-round cooperation in teaching and research and in-depth cultural exchange to gain more cooperative achievements.

On the opening ceremony, witnessed by present guests and representatives, SSPU President Yu Tao signed cooperation agreements with representatives from Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, Taiwan China, University of Ruse, Bulgaria, Savonia University of Applied Sciences, Finland, and TechProtect GmbH, Germany. Vice President Xie Huaqing and representatives from Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and Amazon Web Services (AWS) respectively unveiled the nameplates ofHuawei Authorized Information and Network Academy, and SSPU Cloud Innovation School, aMoE China-AWS Project.

On the Forum, Mr. Chen Feng, Director of National Center for Schooling Development Programme, gave a speech themed by “The University Facing the Future”. President Yu, presidents, professors and experts from Australia, Sweden, USA, Finland, Russia, Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Italy and Taiwan China delivered keynote speeches regarding “Better University, Better City”. They all shared the ideas, experience, and distinctive measures on university development.

President Yu delivered the speech themed “Make the Unemployed Employed, the Employed Enjoy the Career—Practice of Huang Yanpei’s Professional Education Philosophy”. Based on Huang Yanpei’s professional education philosophy, President Yu introduced SSPU exploration and practice in aspects including further implementation of SSPU orientation—Profession-Oriented Higher Education, deepening comprehensive reform in education, enhancement of general education, promotion of education internationalization, optimization of talent cultivation mode, in-depth education with model worker spirit, construction of science parks, cultivation of students’ professional competency, credit and characteristics.

During 2019 SSPU Global Partnership Week, the university also organized such activities as program day, study abroad fair, SSPU alumni council meeting, SSPU council meeting, the 59thanniversary concert and the awarding ceremony of president awards, SSPU enterprise partner visit, international cultural festival, promotion activity of safe study abroad, etc.
