Vice Mayor of Shanghai Met with SSPU Partners from US

On Nov. 8, Vice Mayor of Shanghai Mr. Chen Qun met with delegation headed by Michael Crow, President of Arizona State University (ASU), and Doug Becker, President of Sterling Education Development Limited (Sterling). Both institutions are SSPU cooperative partners.

  

 

Vice Mayor Mr. Chen extended welcome to the delegation. He expected that in the year of 2019 that marks the 40thanniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the US, the visit could play an active role in deepening China-US cultural and educational exchanges. Mr. Chen also introduced the current situation of the development of Shanghai and higher education in Shanghai, and highly praised the orientation and characteristics of ASU and gave a positive response to the cooperation among SSPU and the two cooperative partners. He hoped that the further collaboration and exchange will help promote educational level of universities of applied sciences in Shanghai.

  

President Michael Crow and President Doug Becker expressed gratitude to the Vice Mayor. President Michael Crow introduced ASU’s characteristics, that is to realize innovative development through community service and briefed the progress of the cooperation among ASU, Sterling and SSPU. He also expected to cultivate internationalized high-skilled applied technological talents through in-depth multilateral cooperation.

  

Li Yongzhi, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SHMEC), Lu Lili, Deputy Director of SHMEC International Cooperation & Exchange Division, Wu Song, Secretary of SSPU Party Committee, Yu Tao, SSPU President, Jay Heiler, Regent of Arizona Board of Regents, Rick Shangraw, CEO of ASU Enterprise Partners, Siyan Li, Executive Director of Sterling, and other representatives attended the meeting.
