Hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and organized by the China Center for International Educational Exchange (CCIEE), the Third Sino-Finnish UAS President Forum was held online recently. The theme of the forum is “Sustainable Development Strategy of Training International Applied Talents with Innovative Ability in Universities through Research, Development and Innovation”. Participants included Zhao Lei, Director of the Europe Division of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education, An Yan, Deputy Secretary General of CEAIE, Dr. Jing Meiying, Deputy Director of Office for International Cooperation of National Academy of Education Administration, Mervi Vidgrén, President of Rectors’ Conference of Finnish Universities of Applied Science (ARENE), Ida Mielityinen, Executive Director of ARENE, Yin Kai, Executive Director of CCIEE, and representatives from seven Chinese universities and six Finnish universities. SSPU’s President Xie Huaqing and Director of International Office Qiao Liqing attended the forum.

At the forum, Yin Kai and Ida Mielityinen reported on the Sino-Finnish program, introducing the overall progress and the plans for the next stage. Representatives from six Chinese and Finnish universities respectively delivered speeches on topics “Innovative development strategies through RDI to promote the sustainable development of colleges and universities and cultivate applied talents” and “The strategy of teachers’ sustainable development under the mode of RDI through the establishment of international partnerships and international projects”. In group discussion, Qiao Liqing shared SSPU’s measures and experience on how to implement and promote the cooperation in the RDI projects.

Since 2019, the Sino-Finnish UAS President Forum has been held annually in China and Finland in turn by the CCIEE and the ARENE.
