SSPU Students Won Second Prize of Shanghai Tryouts of Sunshine Sports and Cultural Journey for the Foreign Students in China

On May 27, Shanghai Tryouts of the Third Sunshine Sports and Cultural Journey for the Foreign Students in China came to a successful end. Organized by Office of International Student Affairs, 11 Chinese and international students from China, Mongolia, Laos and Thailand participated in the competition, and ranked the second at 3VS3 basketball game, the fifth at sports and art performance and the ninth at cross country race. SSPU won the second prize in Shanghai Tryouts with the total score ranking the fourth among 12 universities. 

   

The two-day competition was composed of three parts — 3VS3 basketball game, cross country race and sports and art performance. The cross country race tested knowledge about Chinese culture, showing a high requirement for International students’ attainment of Chinese culture. The students said that team spirit was enhanced and friendship was deepened through the competition. The Office wishes to stimulate students’ potential and build a bridge between Chinese and foreign culture by sports and arts, by team work, and by integration of both cultures. 

   


Sunshine Sports and Cultural Journey for the Foreign Students in China is a cultural brand activity for 300 thousand international students initiated by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. It consists of three phases, which are municipal tryouts, regional competitions and national finale, and lasts about half a year. The competition is a platform for international students to show their vigor and vitality through sports and arts performance, and enhances their comprehensive understanding of China and realizes the exchange and communication among Chinese and international students through team work.
