On June 27, 2018, "New Era, Chinese Dream, My Story" Speech Competition for College Students was held. Hosted by the Office of Shanghai Language Commission, the theme of the event was "New Era, Chinese Dream, My Story". The competition received 86 speeches from 33 universities and colleges. After strict selection, three students on behalf of SSPU, Enkh-Amgalan Suvd-Erdene from Mongolia, Jarumit Phanu from Thailand, and Phorsouphan Amath Yousa from Laos, participated in the competition, and eventually Enkh-Amgalan Suvd-Erdene won the second prize, and Jarumit Phanu won the third prize. In particular, Enkh-Amgalan Suvd-Erdene successfully entered the Finale and showed SSPU students' elegant demeanor to universities and colleges in Shanghai. Due to its outstanding organization work, SSPU won the prize of Best Organizer Award.

Through the competition, SSPU international students have a deeper understanding of China as well as the concept of Chinese dream. They have gained a more comprehensive understanding about how to be the bridge of communication between the two countries in the future as well. This competition also improves the international students’ Chinese language expression ability.
