Welcome Meeting for International Freshmen Held

On Sept. 19,welcome meeting for international freshmen was held at SSPU library. Vice President Mo Liangjin attended the meeting and had a meeting with nearly 50 degree and exchange students from all over the world. Director Meng Zhaoshang, Deputy Director Sun Yan, and all teachers of Office of International Student Affairs Office(School of International Exchange), student leaders of SSPU Association of International Students and representatives of Chinese student volunteers were at the meeting as well.

 

Vice President Mo delivered a speech. He expressed a warm welcome to the present international students, and expected them to work hard, actively participate in various kinds of in-class and extracurricular activities and cherish the time in SSPU. Director Meng Zhaoshang introduced SSPU history and the main responsibilities of Office of International Student Affairs (School of International Exchange). Zhang Tiantian, Associate Professor of School of International Exchange, gave an introduction to the upcoming China International Import Exposition (the Expo.), encouraging international students to know more about the trend of China's economy and the development of Shanghai, and try to participate in the relevant volunteer work of the Expo. On the meeting, Chen Zhengming (Thailand),President of SSPU Association of International Students, and heads of each department of the Association briefed the purpose, organization and tasks of the Association to the freshmen.

 

 

Alibek Kyzy Zenura, international student from Russian majored in International Business, spoke in Chinese on behalf of all the freshmen. Anders Dyreborg Schmidt, exchange student from Denmark, spoke on behalf of the exchange students. Both of them said that it was their pleasure to become a member of SSPU, and would learn more about Chinese language and culture.

 

2018 international degree freshmen come from 11 countries including Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tunisia, South Africa and Congo, and major in International Business and Information Management and Information Systems. Exchange students are from 7 countries including Germany, Denmark, Russia, Finland, Switzerland, France, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Belgium, and study or practice in programs like International Business, Materials Science and Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Exhibition Management, Hospitality Management.
