Prof. Jean Louis Marty, Vice President of University of Perpignan Via Domitia, France, visited our university on the morning of Aug. 15. Vice President Xie Huaqing met with the guest at Meeting Room 912. Qu Lili, Deputy Director of International Office, Prof. Zhu Zhigang who is in charge of international exchange and cooperation of College of Engineering and related teachers of School of Environmental and Materials Engineering attended the meeting.

    Vice President Xie Huaqing reviewed the cooperation history and achievements between the two universities at first. He said that the two sides have kept positive cooperation in the aspects of joint scientific research, postgraduate exchange, and etc. since the establishment of the partnership. He hoped the two universities could further expand the cooperation fields and develop more extensive and deeper cooperation in teacher visits, student exchanges and joint scientific research. The two sides reached consensus on the cooperation fields and contents for the next stage.

    After the meeting, Prof. Jean Louis Marty visited the labs in School of Environmental and Materials Engineering, such as Intelligent Sensing Materials and Devices Laboratory, and exchanged academic views with Prof. Zhu Zhigang and other teachers. Prof. Marty gave an academic report based on his research field to the teachers and students of School of Environmental and Materials Engineering with the title of Application of Electrochemical Sensors in Environment, Food and Health. Then he communicated and interacted with teachers and students.

    University of Perpignan Via Domitia was founded in 1350 and is one of the most ancient comprehensive universities in France, the main campus of which is located in the city of Perpignan. It has 12 colleges and departments, 2 doctoral schools and 22 laboratories and institutes. The university offers undergraduate, master and doctoral education. There are more than 20,000 students in the university. The cooperation between University of Perpignan Via Domitia and Shanghai Polytechnic University started when the memorandum of understanding was signed in 2016.
