Established in 2014, National University Science Park of Shanghai Polytechnic University was officially approved as a national-level university science park in 2021. At present, the Science Park is located in two districts, with Baoshan Park and Jing'an Park operating in coordinated synergy.

Located at the core area of Wusong Innovation City, Baoshan Park has a floor area of 34,000 square meters, and gathers over 90 resident enterprises, 50 incubating enterprises, and more than 1,600 innovative and entrepreneurial talents. With the floor area of about 7500 square meters, Jing’an Park is situated at the gateway to the back streets of West Nanjing Road, and it is the home of 13 enterprises and teams. These two parks complement each other's strengths, and jointly develop an industry-university-research-application collaborative innovation ecosystem. 

Focusing on the university’s advantageous disciplines including intelligent manufacturing, new materials, environmental protection and other key fields, the Baoshan Park has established a full-chain service system covering from concept testing to industrial incubation. Carbon Neutrality Concept Testing Center was jointly established with SSPU School of Energy and Materials. The Center generates innovative ideas in the field of thermal functional materials into commercialization. Upon its establishment in 2024, a total of 7 projects were registered into the project library, covering renewable energy, green building materials, energy conservation & environmental protection and related fields. Entrepreneurship incubation base for veterans was established in collaboration with Baoshan District Bureau of Veterans Affairs, providing exclusive space of nearly 1,300 square meters to support veterans in successful career transition. Up to now, the Park has nurtured 15 high-tech enterprises, 20 technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and 20 specialized and sophisticated SMEs. Incubating enterprises hold a total of 747 intellectual property rights, including 14 invention patents. In 2024, 89 utility model patents were granted.

With the focus on industrial design, cultural creativity and digital creativity, Jing’an Park aims to building a distinctive cooperative platform for innovation and creativity. Leading organizations like Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Design and Four Future are brought here together. Outstanding youth entrepreneurship projects like Cool Hunter demonstrate vibrant innovative energy. The Park has been honored as a featured park of Jing'an District, excellent business partner of West Nanjing Road Sub-district, etc.

SSPU National Science Park has established an incubation service system that covers the entire life cycle of enterprises, spanning from startup bases to accelerators, and from tiered incubation to financial empowerment. In terms of investment and financing services, the Park has established collaborations with many financial institutions, including 2 angel investors, 5 venture capital institutions, and 5 financing guarantee companies, to boost technology transfer, faculty/student entrepreneurship and enterprise growth. In collaboration with the university's technology transfer center, the Park has formed a professional technical transfer service team with seven members. The team includes two doctoral degree holders and one master's degree holder, with 100% of its members certified as either professional incubator service providers or technology brokers.

In 2024, the achievement transfer and technology service platform facilitated 36 technical exchange sessions between SSPU and resident enterprises. It cooperated with 11 laboratories from 5 schools to establish 20 industry-university-research collaboration projects, facilitate the transfer of 14 scientific and technological achievements, and handle 4 technology transfers and agency services. The total contract value for university-enterprise cooperation projects reached as high as 2 million yuan. In the same year, the trade union federation of the Park was selected as an outstanding case of Shanghai's Secondary-Tier trade unions, and rated as a Three-Star Trade Union by Wusong Sub-district in Baoshan District. The staff reading room was honored as the Most Beautiful Reading Space” in Shanghai. It was also rated as “Excellent” in performance evaluation on Shanghai Sci-tech Innovation and Entrepreneurship Carriers, and honored as Outstanding” in performance evaluation on Standard Entrepreneurship Incubation Base of Baoshan District.

On the occasion of SSPU's 65th anniversary in 2025, Xingchuang Alumni Association was officially established within the Park, attracting over 50 alumni enterprise members. The alumni enterprise Lonliv Technology was successfully recognized as a National High-tech Enterprise. Its founder was honored with the title of Wusong Craftsman. Founder of Tensorik Technology, was also awarded the title of Wusong Craftsman. The strength of alumni has become an important pillar for the high-quality development of the Park.

Looking forward, SSPU National Science Park will adhere to the development principle of Integration between Industry and Education, Collaboration between Industry and University, and Integration between Industry and Research”. The Park facing the industry chain and developing in multiple districts, the Park explores innovative incubation models such as “rent first, invest later”. The Park aims to foster the aggregation of innovation resources, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, incubation of technology-based enterprises, cultivation of innovative talent, and open collaborative development. It strives to become a demonstration case for universities to serve regional economic and social development.
