Delegation Headed by Vice Chancellor of Blekinge Institute of TechnologyVisited

  Mr. Anders Hederstierna, Vice Chancellor of Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), Sweden, visited Shanghai Polytechnic University with Mr. BennyLövström, Vice Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Mr. Mats Walter, Head of Mechanical EngineeringDepartment and outstanding overseas teacher of our university on the afternoon of Oct. 13.President Yu Tao warmly receivedthe delegation.Headsand relevant teachersof International Officeand College of Engineering attended the meeting.

   

  First,President Yu Tao extended welcome toMr. Anders Hederstierna and his delegation. President Yu Tao briefly introduced the history, orientation and internationalization strategy of our university and reviewed the history of cooperation with BTH and the fruitful results. He pointed out that there was a long-term and profound basis for the bilateral cooperation and a positive and friendly partnership with the joint effortsof both sides. The positive and effective cooperation has been carried out on the programs like student exchange, joint education, mutual visits of teachers and outstanding overseas teachers. He expected that the two universities can continue to deepen the cooperation programs and actively develop and enhance the cooperation in strong programs and fields. He is confident about the prospect of cooperation between the two universities.

  Vice Chancellor Anders Hederstierna mainly talked about the international exchange of BTH, especially the general situation and strategic thinking of the cooperation developed in China. He said Shanghai Polytechnic University was the important international partner of BTH as their only partner universityin Shanghai. He hoped that the results of this talk could be implemented actively with the efforts of both sides in order to promote and deepen the close cooperation between the two universities.

  The student exchange agreement and teacher training agreement were signed byPresident Yu Tao and Vice Chancellor Anders Hederstierna. The two sides had a deep discussion on cooperation plan for the next stage and reached a consensus.

    

  The delegation also visited the laboratory of College of Engineering and Engineering Training Center.
