Delegation of Universal College of Learning in New Zealand Visited SSPU

  Leeza Boyce, President of Universal College of Learning ( UCOL) in New Zealand,visited Shanghai Polytechnic University with Arthur Chin, Executive Director for Business Development, and Jerry Shearman, Executive Director for Education & Applied Research on the afternoon of Nov. 17. The delegation was warmly received by President Yu Tao and heads of International Office, President Office, College of Engineering,School of Economics and Management andSchool of Applied Arts &Design.

    

  President Yu Tao extended his greetings to President Leeza Boyce and her delegation. He said that Shanghai Polytechnic University had been adhering to the orientation of Profession-oriented Higher Education and implementing the strategy ofinternationalization based on the university's orientation and talent training goal. Our university is trying to carry out multilevel and all-round international exchanges and cooperation in a wide field. Both sides share the similar school-running concepts and have broad prospects for cooperation. He hoped to take this visit as a good beginning to strengthen communication, promote the results of the talks and launch substantive cooperation as soon as possible.

  Both sides had discussions and exchanged ideas on multilevel cooperation including undergraduate and diploma education in different fields and reached a certain consensus. The delegation also visited some teaching and research places like the laboratory of the School of Applied Arts &Design.


  UCOL founded in 1902 is a public polytechnic university funded by the Government of New Zealand. The university consists of five campuses with specialty in Health and Sciences,Applied Engineering and Trades, and Humanities and Business, etc. It provides certificate programs and multilevel education including preparatory, junior, undergraduate and graduate education. There are nearly 6,400 students and over 400 faculty and staff in the university.
