From Oct.31 to Nov.2, 2019 Cross-Strait Symposium on Applied Higher Education was held at Chaoyang University of Technology, Taiwan China. The symposium attracted over 80 representatives from more than 20 cross-Straits universities. President Yu Tao and 4 representatives of relevant departments attended the symposium.
President Yu Tao delivered a speech themed by A Practice of Huang Yanpei’s Professional Education Philosophy. Starting with Huang Yanpei’s professional education philosophy and focused on SSPU’s orientation——Profession-Oriented Higher Education，the speech mainly introduced SSPU’s practices in discipline construction, industry-education integration, university-enterprise collaboration, cultivation by model worker spirit, building of university science parks and internationalization of higher education.
The theme of the symposium this year isDevelopment, Reform and Cooperation of World-class Applied University. In the forms of keynote speeches, cross-Straits president forum and themed forum, the attendees discussed the construction and development of cross-Straits applied higher education. Representatives from the present universities shared their own work and practical experience in the overall development, international education accreditation, talent cultivation, training and cooperation in innovation and entrepreneurship, etc. in applied universities. On the opening ceremony, President Yu Tao gave a speech as a special guest, and expressed the wishes of working together with cross-Straits applied universities to carry forward, share and develop applied higher education.
During the symposium, SSPU delegation had in-depth exchanges with other university representatives. They also visited Taipei University of Technology and Lunghwa University of Science and Technology.
