According to the latest data of Essential Science Indicators (ESI) released by Clarivate Analytics on March 9, SSPU Engineering discipline is ranked ESI global top 1% for the first time, marking a historic breakthrough. The achievement shows that the discipline construction at SSPU has made major progress and the Engineering discipline has reached the world high level.
ESI is an analytical database based on the SCIE and SSCI papers and citation data in over 12,000 journals from around the world in Web of Science covering a rolling ten-year period. As a demonstrative and globally recognized analytical evaluation tool that examines scientific research performance and identifies trends of research in the sciences, ESI has become one of the significant evaluation tools that identify the academic performance and influence of higher education institutions, academic institutions, a country or a region in the world.
In the future, by giving full play to the leading and demonstrative role of the university’s advantage disciplines, SSPU will keep improving the connotation construction, elevating the overall capability and enhancing the core competitiveness of the disciplines so as to have more disciplines enter ESI global top 1% and lay a solid foundation for SSPU to become a high-level university of applied sciences that closely integrates industry, education and research.
