Onthe morning of Sept. 6, opening ceremony for 2023 freshmen was held at thestadium. SSPU leaders, heads of teaching departments and relevantadministrative departments, teacher representatives, and all of 2023freshmen attended the ceremony. Students’parents joined in the ceremony online.Vice President Ding Li presided over the ceremony.

SSPU Party Secretary Wu Song wore the university badges for the freshman representatives symbolizing that the freshmen are now connected to theuniversity. They are hoped to align their personal growth with the development of SSPU and forge ahead in this new journey of their life.

SSPU President Xie Huaqingdelivered a speech to the freshmen. He warmly welcomed 2023 freshmen on behalfof the university and expressed gratitude and respect to the families andteachers who contributed to bringing up and cultivating the students. PresidentXie introduced SSPU’s history,educationmode and achievements to the new SSPUers andelaborated on the educational traditions, philosophies and characteristics aswell as the objectives to be fulfilled in the new phase of development of theuniversity. The President also put forward three expectations to the freshmen.They are firstly expected to be diligent to lay a solid foundation; secondly tobe down to earth and innovative to improve their abilities; and thirdly toalways reflect on themselves, be independent and pursueself-improvement.
