2025 SSPU Global Partnership Week Opens

In order to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with global partners, deepen and develop educational cooperation projects, and build a platform for overseas exchanges for teachers and students, Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) held 2025 Global Partnership Week from March 24 to 28. More than 40 Presidents, experts and representatives of 32 universities and enterprises from 15 countries and regions around the world participated in the event.

On the morning of March 25, 2025 Global Partnership Week opened at Academic Exchange Center, SSPU. Mr. Li Weiping, Secretary General of International Education Association Shanghai (IEAS), together with representatives of SSPU global partners attended the opening ceremony. Mr. Lu Min, Secretary of SSPU Party Committee, SSPU President Xie Huaqing, SSPU Vice President Bai Jianfeng, heads, teacher and student representatives of relevant departments and schools also joined in the activity. Vice President Bai Jianfeng presided over the opening ceremony.

On behalf of IEAS, Mr. Li Weiping congratulated SSPU on the opening of 2025 Global Partnership Week. He said that focusing on the university orientation and talent cultivation goals, SSPU has actively explored global exchanges and cooperation with the characteristics of the university that conforms to the law of applied technology-oriented higher education, and has achieved positive results. IEAS will continue to support SSPU and other local educational institutions to actively implement the strategy of education opening-up, and carry out pragmatic overseas exchanges and cooperation in a variety of forms so as to add new driven force to the cause of education of SSPU and Shanghai.

President Xie Huaqing welcomed all the guests to attend the Global Partnership Week. He introduced the orientation and characteristics of SSPU, as well as the development and achievements of the university in recent years in talent training, postgraduate programs expansion, integration of industry and education, and overseas exchanges and cooperation. He expressed his sincere hope that this activity could become a new starting point for global partners to move forward together and more fruitful results will be achieved in future exchanges and cooperation.

At the opening ceremony, President Xie Huaqing, on behalf of SSPU, signed the cooperation agreement with President Chiang Ching San, on behalf of Chienkuo Technology University (CTU). Lu Min, Secretary of SSPU Party Committee and Lin Tzuhsiung, Director of CTU Secretary Office, witnessed the signing.

Certificate Granting Ceremony for Honorary Expert was held. Secretary Lu Min and President Xie Huaqing awarded Honorary Expert Certificates to the outstanding foreign experts, including Professor Lingxue Kong of the Institute for Frontier Materials at Deakin University, Australia, Associate Professor Fulvio Mastrogiovanni, Coordinator of the Master’s degree program of Robotics at University of Genoa, Italy, Dr. Liisa Timonen of Karelia University of Applied Sciences, Finland, Mr. Armin Otto Kienle, Managing Director of 4Square-return GmbH, Germany.

On the afternoon of March 25th, Theme Forum of the Global Partnership Week was held. Vice President Bai Jianfeng presided over the Forum. Six representatives delivered keynote speeches respectively on the theme “The Age of Digital Intelligence and Educational Reform”, discussing how universities should respond to challenges, promote educational reform and innovation to meet the needs of the era of digital intelligence. The keynote speakers included Federico Delfino, Rector of the University of Genoa, Italy, Ko Tzu-Hsiang, President of Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, Chiang Ching San, President of Chienkuo Technology University, Liming Wang, Director of Irish Institute for Chinese Studies of University College Dublin, Ireland, Liisa Timonen, Board Member of Karelia University of Applied Sciences, Finland, and Kevin Byrne, Head of School of Business Technology, Retail & Supply Chain of Technological University Dublin, Ireland. 

During this year’s Global Partnership Week, SSPU also holds a series of activities, such as study abroad fair, meetings with departments and schools, Chinese cultural experience——ceramics art, campus tour, city walk, etc.

Since the first Global Partnership Week in 2014, the annually held Global Partnership Week has become a crucial platform for global exchanges and cooperation of SSPU. It is an important initiative for the university to deepen cooperation, broaden global horizons and improve the quality of school running. This event aims to better publicize the university’s educational philosophy, explore projects of educational globalization, enhance academic exchanges, build a platform for teacher and student exchanges, and improve the university’ s level of educational opening up and global influence. Through this platform, SSPU has established close ties with outstanding universities and enterprises around the world, and carried out in-depth exchanges and cooperation in multiple fields such as talent cultivation, scientific research and social services, etc. In the future, SSPU will continue to explore new paths and models of global exchange and cooperation, and strive to write a new chapter in educational opening up.
