On the morning of September 16, a delegation led by Simon Nash, Vice President of Unitec Institute of Technology (Unitec) in New Zealand, visited SSPU. Wu Peidong, Deputy Secretary of SSPU Party Committee, met with the delegation.

Wu Peidong first reviewed his visit to Unitec during his trip to New Zealand in June to attend a vocational education cooperation conference, which left a deep impression. He extended a warm welcome to Unitec delegation. Unitec shares a similar educational orientation with SSPU, as both institutions focus on cultivating applied talents and emphasize the integration of industry and education and university-enterprise cooperation, which lays a solid foundation for establishing a friendly partnership between the two universities. He identified broad prospects for collaboration in areas such as scientific research cooperation, faculty exchanges, joint supervision of doctoral students, and student mobility.

Simon Nash expressed gratitude for SSPU’s trust and support. He pointed out that Unitec is about to merge with the Manukau Institute of Technology, becoming the largest polytechnic institution in Auckland. With this new opportunity, he expressed the hope to join hands with SSPU to actively expand international cooperation. He emphasized that Unitec is committed to advancing educational exchanges between China and New Zealand and will explore and implement comprehensive cooperation with SSPU in the future. Delegation members Professors Hamid Sharifzadeh and Eltahir Kabbar engaged in in-depth discussions with representatives from SSPU’s School of Computer and Information Engineering on international research project collaboration.

The two sides also communicated and reached preliminary consensus on collaboration such as signing a Memorandum of Understanding, jointly applying for research projects, and developing student exchange programs, etc. After the meeting, the delegation took a lab tour to SSPU’s Intelligent Manufacturing Factory Lab and key laboratories in the School of Computer and Information Engineering.

Representatives from International Office and School of Computer and Information Engineering attended the meeting as well.
