On the morning of Dec. 15, the conclusion meeting of Erasmus+KA2 project and the unveiling ceremony of Center of Teaching Excellence (CTE) were held. Qiao Liqing, Secretary of Party Committee of School of Economics and Management, Zhang Jun, Executive Dean of Vocational & Technical Teacher Education School, Gu Xiankai, Secretary of Party Committee of School of Foreign Languages and Cultural Communication, Zheng Peiyun, Dean of School of Foreign Languages and Cultural Communication, and Zheng Shiliang, Deputy Director of SSPU Teacher Teaching Development Center attended the meeting.

As the Program Coordinator, Qiao Liqing firstly gave a general introduction of the project. Erasmus+ KA2—Developing Future-oriented Academic Curricula in Teacher Education with Innovative Methodologies for Nex-Gen Asian HEIs (FRACTION project) is an international project jointly applied by SSPU and 13 other universities from 7 countries including Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Spain, India and Vietnam and successfully got approved in 2019. Although launched one year later as originally scheduled due to the pandemic, FRACTION project has still reached its construction objective as expected. By introducing the latest achievements in postgraduate education from partner universities in Germany, Spain, etc., FRACTION project helps professional teachers improve their theoretical and practical teaching abilities through training sessions. Currently, FRACTION project is under accreditation by ACQUIN which is widely recognized worldwide. Once the accreditation is granted, all teachers and students joining in the future training will receive an official certificate. After the project finishes, the CTE will become a sub center to SSPU Teacher Teaching Development Center, contributing to the high quality development of SSPU teacher capacity building and postgraduate cultivation.

As one of the important construction targets of the Erasmus+ KA2 project, the CTE is built into an essential base for the project. Project member Hu Zhen briefed in details on the current status, the structure, functional advantages, training resources and early use of the center. She pointed out that the establishment of the CTE was jointly funded by SSPU and the project partners. In addition to serving the daily teaching and research of the School of Foreign Languages and Cultural Communication, the CTE also provided great software and hardware support to the smooth development of the FRACTION project. It is hoped that CTE can play a more important role in the talent training and social service in the future.

At last, Zhang Jun extended congratulations to the project team on behalf of Vocational & Technical Teacher Education School. She said that the first batch of 5 students have already participated in the training and gained a lot. The student representatives also came to witness the unveiling ceremony and this showed their recognition of the project. Since SSPU is now in a new phase of high quality development, the students are expected to seize the opportunity to improve themselves. The postgraduates had a nice conversation with the teachers. They expressed their gratitude to the university for offering such a platform for them to proceed with their study with confidence.
