Delegation Headed by Secretary Song Baoru Visited Universities in Portugal and Spain

  The delegation headed by Secretary Song Baoru visited European University - Portugal and European University - Madrid, Spain, from Oct. 18 to Oct. 25. Both of the universities are under Laureate International Universities. The delegation had deep discussions on expanding the fields and levels of international exchanges and cooperation and achieved a lot.

    

  The delegation visited European University - Portugal on Oct. 19. They were warmly received by Rector Pedro BarbasHomem, Carlos A.M. Duarte, Director of Institutional RelationsLaureate Portugal,Diana Lisboa, International Manager, and the manager in Portugal of Laureate International Universities. Mr. Pedro BarbasHomem, Rector of European University - Portugal, hoped the talk could open the door of the future cooperation between the two universities. He invited our university to send teachers to attend the International Week to be held next April in order to carry out further and substantive cooperation and exchanges. Secretary Song Baorumade a brief introduction to our university and the fruitful cooperationresults achieved with Laureatein the past two years. He hoped to carry out further cooperation with European University - Portugal in student exchange, teacher exchange, training of talents, etc.

  European University - Portugal under Laureate International Universities which is the largest institution of Higher Education in the world has six major categories in four campuses in Lisbon and Porto. The studentscome from 50 different countries. The number of students in the university ranks the third among all the private universities in Portugal. Some of its programs take the lead among universities in Europeand are popular majors of the university, such asTourism & Hotel Management,Market Management in IPAM College, and Design in IADE. During the visit, the deans of School of Society and Commerce, Institute of Creative Design, IPAM College, School of Tourism & Hotel Management, and the Sports and Health Institute introduced their major s, English-taught teaching, academic degrees and characteristics respectively. The head of student employment introduced their employment service for students. More than 700 students from China are studying in European University - Portugal at present. Nearly 35% of them are under international exchange programs.  

    

  The delegation visited European University - Madrid, Spain, on Oct. 23. The university which was founded in 1989 is one of the largest private universities in Spain at present. It is underLaureate International Universitieswhich is the largest institution of Higher Education in the world. The delegation was warmly received by ConradoBriceno, CEO Spain -Laureate International Universities, Juan Morote, Rector of European University - Madrid, Jose Maria Palomares, Director of Communication and Public Affairs, and others. Secretary Song Baoru introduced the basic situation and characteristics of our university. Both sides exchanged ideas in depth on potential cooperation majors and modes and achieved a lot. The delegation also visited the campus and laboratories of relevant majors.

  European University - Madrid is one of the first batch of universities approved by the quality certification in the world. The pursuit of quality ensures its leading position. Prof. Marta Muniz, Dean of School of Social Sciences and communication, and Prof. Antonio Naranjo, Manager of Academic Programs Industrial &Aerospace Engineering, introduced their basic situation and majors each in depth. The major Sports Economic Management cooperated between European University - Madrid and Spain Real Madrid with the mission of training international sports management talents ranks top-ten among the program Sports Management globally. The major Sports Medicine of the university focuses on training the students’ practical ability in teaching with the use of 3D to simulate the form of a hospital to let students learn in a real environment. The major Aerospace Engineering ranks the first among all the private universities in Spain. Both teachers and students of this major actively cooperate with enterprises in the course of teaching and learning and the salary of its graduates is far higher than the average salary of the graduates in Spain. Its graduates are recognized by famous enterprises such as Airbus.

    

  The delegation collected information on the possible cooperation fields before the visit and had deep discussions with the two universities during the visit.This laid a good foundation for the substantive progress of the visit and the follow-up cooperation. The personnel of International Office, Department of Physical Education and Institute of Higher Education were also in the delegation.
