University Think Tank—Shanghai Vocational & Technical Teacher Education Institute Founded at SSPU

On the afternoon of Dec. 3, university think tank—Shanghai Vocational & Technical Teacher Education Institute was founded at SSPU. Gao Deyi, Chairman of STES Expert Committee, Min Hui, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SMEC), experts and scholars from universities including Tongji University and Shanghai Normal University, SSPU leaders Wu Song, Xie Huaqing and Ding Li attended the ceremony. Shi Weiping, Dean of Vocational & Technical Teacher Education School presided over the ceremony.

  

 

Min Hui warmly congratulated the establishment of the university think tank —Shanghai Vocational & Technical Teacher Education Institute. He said that the founding of the Institute will help deepen the research on basic theories and development strategies and further give play to the role of vocational education in implementing the strategy of strengthening the country with talents.

  

 

SSPU Party Secretary Wu Song delivered a welcome speech. He pointed out that SSPU will integrate high-quality resources inside and outside the university, fully motivate the STES and all education-related disciplines, programs and talents to build and develop the think tank well.

  

 

Gao Deyi, Min Hui, Wu Song and Xie Huaqing unveiled for the Institute. And Gao Deyi and Xie Huaqing awarded the certificates of appointment to the researchers of the think tank.

  

 

 

Ding Li, SSPU Vice President, introduced the background, orientation, developing objective, future plan and main tasks of Shanghai Vocational & Technical Teacher Education Institute.

  

 

After the founding ceremony of the think tank, the experts at the meeting had in-depth discussions on the working mechanism and key research tasks of the think tank. In his summary, Professor Gao Deyi highly praised the contributions of experts and required to build the think tank according to the experts’ opinions.

  

 

Shanghai Vocational & Technical Teacher Education Institute is committed to serving the national and Shanghai vocational education development strategy and innovation-driven development strategy. Coordinating high-quality education resources in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta Region, it aims to become an international first-class policy research think tank with Chinese characteristics and Chinese wisdom. At the same time, the Institute will focus on theoretical research to put forward the original theory of vocational and technical teacher education and summarize a China’s plan. In order to expand the international influence of China's vocational and technical teacher education, the Institute will respond to the national Belt and Road Initiative and promote research results around the globe, hence new models, newapproaches and new ideas will be provided for the training of first-class teachers with enterprise background for the construction of a world-class vocational education system.
