The 18th Cross-Strait Applied Higher Education Seminar 2016 was held in Chienkuo Technology University located in Taiwan from November 17 to 18, and attracted more than hundreds of representatives from the universities in mainland and Taiwan. Our president Yu Tao, Vice-President Xie Huaqing and more than 10 teachers and 8 student representatives from relevant departments and colleges attended this seminar.
This seminar's topic was“Modern innovation, intelligence and transformation strategy”which is corresponding with these purposes of global industry development, such as“Made in China 2025”and“Germany Industry 4.0”. The experts shared the latest achievements of applied education innovation and research, strengthened the academic study ability and built platform and excited creations for cooperation between mainland and Taiwan, and deepened the education reform and cooperation. The seminar was divided into three parts: topic speech, paper publish, and contest of student innovation, creation and entrepreneurship.
And the presidents from many university made keynote speech around the seminar topic. President Yu Tao made a speech of which the topic is“Combination Prioritizing-Thinking and Practice for Career-Oriented Higher Education”. He started from the connotation of“Combination”in Chinese ancient culture, and derived seven meanings of“combination”as follows: school position meeting social requirements and corresponding to time features; college and department structure adjustment and optimized combination; combination of production and education and of learning and working to push the reform of talent training mode; powerful combination to establish electronic waste collaborative innovation center; internal and external integration to improve the construction level of teaching staffs; deepening college-enterprise cooperation to train professional talents; developing international cooperation to import global wisdom and improve development energy level. He deeply and vividly addressed the development position of career-oriented higher education of our university from above seven aspects, and communicate and shared the views on reform and practice of discipline construction, talent training, work-study combination and international cooperation.
About 20 papers of our university were selected into the collection of this seminar after our careful organization and preparation around the topic. During the seminar, our delegation communicated deeply with the Presidents of these participating universities, heads of departments and representatives of teachers and students.
