In August, the 11th batch of projects winning the funding of China Foreign Language Education Fund and corresponding project leaders were jointly announced by the National Foreign Languages Teaching Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education, the National Advisory Committee on Teaching Foreign Languages to Majors in Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, National Research Center for Foreign Language Education and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. The project "Study on the Promotion of International Communication and the Training Model of Foreign Language Talents in Engineering Universities" submitted by Ms. Zhao Yan of School of Foreign Languages and Cultural Communication was approved as a key project.

The projects of the China Foreign Language Education Fund are divided into three categories including key projects, general projects and joint projects, covering a wide range of areas such as research on foreign language education policy and planning, foreign language education reform, foreign language education informatization, teaching materials, assessment and evaluation, and foreign language teacher development. Focusing on the national strategy of cultivating talents in relevant fields and considering the characteristics of engineering universities, the project of Ms. Zhao Yan makes a new thinking and exploration on the training mode of foreign language talents.
