From June 16 to 22, the delegation of NaziBONI University (UNB), Burkina Faso, led by President Hassan Bismarck Nacro,visited SSPU. The delegation also included UNB Vice President Sanwé MédardKienou and Secretary General Sibiri Sawadogo.
On the morning of June 21, SSPU PresidentXie Huaqing met with the delegation at Academic Exchange Center. DeputyDirector Xuan Xiaodi and Staff Member Ge Chunxiao of European & AfricanAffairs Division of Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People'sGovernment (Shanghai FAO), and Ge Jingyi, Deputy Director of InternationalExchange Department of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SMEC) wereinvited to attend the meeting. SSPU Vice President Ding Li presided over themeeting.
President Xie firstly welcomed President Nacro and the guests andexpressed gratitude to Shanghai FAO and SMEC for the guidance and great supportto the joint project. He said that it is SSPU’s great honor to cooperate withUNB and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (Huawei) on the joint establishment ofSSPU-Nazi BONI Vocational Education School and strive together to have theschool recognized as a LuBan Workshop operational project. The joint project iscarried out under the underground of China-Africa cooperation and is expectedto serve as a path for SSPU to share its excellent vocational educationachievements with Burkina Faso and help the country to train high qualityinternational vocational education teacher and talents. It will be of greatsignificance to enhance the educational cooperation and cultural communicationbetween the two countries and for the joint development of the twouniversities. Next, with the guidance and support of upper level departments,SSPU will continue to work with UNB and Huawei to build the first joint programof Computer Application Technology through program construction, teachertraining, international student exchange by strictly following the constructionplan and the Regulations of LuBanWorkshop Development Allianceand theLuBanWorkshop Operational Projects Recognition Standard (for Trial).
President Nacrothanked SSPU for the hospitality during the visit and the sincerity to workwith UNB. He stated that the joint project is supported by the government ofBurkina Faso and that it is UNB’s pleasure to serve as a bridge between theeducational cooperation of the two countries. UNB values this opportunity tobuild the LuBan Workshop at the university and attaches greatimportance to the cooperation. The university will firmly push forward thecollaboration from various aspects according to the construction plan andcontribute its part to the success of the project.
Xuan Xiaodi emphasized that this jointproject is an important part of educational cooperation of the two countries andis greatly supported by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassy of thePeople's Republic of China in Burkina Faso, Shanghai FAO and SMEC. She hopedthat the project could be built into an excellent LuBan Workshop project withthe concerted efforts of all sides and that the two universities could exploremore fields of cooperation by giving full play to the advantages of the twosides.
Ge Jingyi said that LuBan Workshop is a brandproject in the field of higher vocational education in China. SSPU and UNB arehighly matched in disciplines and programs and have established a solidfoundation. It is hoped that both sides could carry out practical cooperationunder LuBan Workshop project through which to help train outstanding vocationaltechnical talents who will serve the development of the local society in BurkinaFaso.
During the visit, the delegationrespectively had a meeting with SSPU Vocational & Technical TeacherEducation School, Office of International Student Affairs (School ofInternational Exchange) and College of International Vocational Education, and visitedHuawei Global Training Center in Hangzhou and SSPU Smart Manufacturing FactoryLab and Engineering Training and Innovation Education Center.
Heads and representatives from SSPUInternational Office, College of International Vocational Education, Vocational& Technical Teacher Education School and Office of International StudentAffairs (School of International Exchange) attended the above activities.
