In order to further strengthen academic exchanges with global partners, deepen and develop international educational projects, and build a platform for international exchanges for teachers and students, 2024 Global Partnership Week of Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) opened at the Academic Exchange Center on the morning of March 27. Mr. Li Weiping, Secretary General of International Education Associate Shanghai (IEAS), presidents, experts and representatives of 19 universities and enterprises from 12 countries and regions around the world were invited to attend the event. Mr. Lu Min, Secretary of SSPU Party Committee, Mr. Xie Huaqing, SSPU President, Mr. Ding Li, SSPU Vice President, and teacher and student representatives also joined in the activity. Ms. Yao Li, Director of SSPU International Office (Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) presided over the opening ceremony.

Secretary Lu Min delivered a welcome speech and declared the opening of 2024 SSPU Global Partner Week. Lu Min said that after ten years of development, the Global Partner Week has become an important platform for cooperation and communication between SSPU and global partners. SSPU has established stable cooperative relationships with 171 universities and institutions in 38 countries and regions. It is hoped that this event could be an opportunity to explore new modes of cooperation with global partners, share knowledge, experience and resources, and jointly create a new chapter in the internationalization of education.      

On behalf of IEAS, Mr. Li Weiping congratulated SSPU on the opening of 2024 Global Partnership Week. He said that the university has actively explored a path of internationalization with the characteristics of SSPU that conforms to the law of applied higher education and has achieved positive results. He hoped that Chinese and foreign universities would strengthen all-round cooperation in teaching and research, deepen people-to people and cultural exchanges to make the cooperation better in quantity and quality. IEAS will continue to give full play to its unique advantages of non-governmental international educational exchanges to support SSPU and other local educational institutions to actively implement the strategy of internationalization, carry out pragmatic international exchanges and cooperation in a variety of forms, and enhance the connotation and quality of education internationalization.

President Xie Huaqing made a presentation to introduce the orientation and characteristics of SSPU, as well as the development and achievements of the university in recent years in the areas of talent training, discipline construction, integration of industry and education, and international exchanges and cooperation.

At the opening ceremony, President Xie Huaqing, on behalf of SSPU, signed the Memorandum of Understanding respectively with Managing Director Armin Kienle representing TechProtect GmbH from Germany, and with Vice Rector Galina Ivanova representing University of Ruse from Bulgaria. Mr. Li Weiping and Secretary Lu Min witnessed the signing.

During this year’s Global Partnership Week, SSPU will also hold a series of colorful activities, such as academic salon, study abroad fair, program day, Chinese cultural experience——tea ceremony, campus tour, city tour, etc.

The annually held Global Partnership Week is an important initiative for the university to deepen international cooperation, broaden international horizons and improve the quality of school running. In recent years, SSPU is committed to cultivating applied innovative talents who are professional, responsible and international. The internationalization requires extensive external cooperation and exchanges. Taking the Global Partnership Week as a platform, the university has established close ties with excellent universities and enterprises around the world, and carried out in-depth exchanges and cooperation in many fields, such as talent cultivation, scientific research and social service, etc. SSPU will continue to accelerate the pace of internationalization in the reform and development, and strive to write a new chapter of internationalization of education.
