From April 26 to May 2, Lu Min, Secretary of SSPU Party Committee, led a delegation to visit Australian College of Disability and Community Services (ACDCS), Technical and Further Education New South Wales (TAFE NSW), La Trobe University, Deakin University in Australia, and Manukau Institute of Technology and Unitec (MIT & Unitec) in New Zealand successively. This visit has deepened SSPU’s cooperation with partner universities in Australia and New Zealand in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, scientific research collaboration, joint training and short-term programs, yielding fruitful results.
During the visit to ACDCS, the delegation was received by Dr. Martin Riordan, former Chief Executive Officer of the Australian TAFE Directors Association and ACDCS Board Director. The two sides held in-depth discussions on medical and nursing scientific research cooperation in the Australian healthcare working environment. Dr. Martin Riordan accompanied the delegation to visit the open areas of the hospital and introduced how the school and the hospital operate an integrated system of hospital, university, scientific research, teaching and vocational training. He also shared and reviewed his wonderful working experience at SSPU. After learning about the latest achievements SSPU has made in fields such as medical-engineering integration, he expressed that he would fully support the exchanges and cooperation between SSPU and ACDCS.
During the visit to TAFE NSW, Mr. James Flannagan, Director of the International Office of TAFE NSW and his team welcomed the delegation. Director James Flannagan gave a comprehensive introduction to TAFE NSW’s school-running history, curriculum system and international cooperation advantages. During the exchange, the two universities signed a cooperation framework agreement on site. Taking this exchange and signing as an opportunity, the two sides will further implement a long-term cooperation mechanism.
During the visit to La Trobe University, Vice President Professor Amalia Di Iorio and representatives from the International Office and relevant schools, received the delegation. At the meeting, Professor Amalia introduced in detail the university’s development history, scientific research advantages and characteristic majors. This visit has opened a new stage of cooperation between SSPU and La Trobe University.
During the visit to Deakin University, Lu Min focused on introducing the history and origin of teaching and scientific research cooperation between scholars of SSPU and Deakin University. Deakin University attaches great importance to the cooperation with SSPU and hopes that the two sides can carry out more cooperation projects beneficial to teachers and students, mainly including multi-level cooperative education programs, joint master’s training, and in particular, deepening high-level scholar research cooperation in the field of energy and materials. It is hoped that the two sides will establish a periodic and effective communication mechanism to promote the application and implementation of relevant international cooperation projects as soon as possible.
MIT and Unitec, after its strategic merger on January 1 this year, signed a partnership agreement with SSPU in March this year. This was SSPU’s first visit to the newly merged university. The delegation was received by Executive Vice President Mr. Simon Nash and other university representatives. Simon Nash introduced in detail the university-running philosophy, characteristic majors and international cooperation mode. The two sides discussed specific cooperation projects of mutual interest and reached preliminary consensus.
