International Applied Technology Innovation Competition recently came to an end at Weihai, Shandong Province. Project conducted by 2017 postgraduate Xu Guangqiao stood out from over 400 domestic and 300 overseas works and won the first prize.

The winning project,A Systematic Solution to the Rapid and Large-scaled Governance and Recovery of Leaked Crude Oil by Using Porous Graphene, is a key project of National Natural Science Foundation. It takes advantage of the two major features—high heat absorption, and lipophilicity and hydrophobicity—of the graphene sponges to realize the most difficult process of recycling of solid crude oil.
