Recently, SSPU delegation led by President Xie Huaqing visited universities and companies in Hungary and Austria including Han’s Europe Ag, Budapest Metropolitan University (METU), University of Debrecen, HTL Braunau, B&R Headquarter in Austria and University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. SSPU delegation had in-depth talks  with above institutions on topics such as joint student training and internships, faculty exchanges, scientific research collaboration and co-establishment of joint laboratories.

During the visit to Han’s Europe Ag in Hungary, the company's R&D team of telecommunications and artificial intelligence showcased the company’s cutting-edge achievements in smart communications, data processing, and mass communication technologies. President Xie Huaqing, aligning with the distinctive features of the university, highlighted SSPU’s strengths in scientific research on speech recognition and machine deep learning. Both sides engaged in comprehensive discussions on feasible implementation plans to carry out industry-university-research collaboration, short-term internships for graduate students, and faculty research cooperation.

During the visit at METU in Hungary, METU President Professor Tamás Gergely Kucsera and Vice President Professor Habil Peter Rada welcomed the delegation. Both sides held in-depth discussions on international education and the new talent cultivation model for creative industry, and identified the future cooperation opportunities such as student exchange programs, short-term credit programs, joint Master’s degree programs, collaborative workshops and faculty mobility. Following the meeting, the two universities signed their first Memorandum of Understanding, marking the substantive advancement of educational collaboration.

During the visit to University of Debrecen in Hungary, the delegation had a meeting with its Executive Vice President Professor Karoly Peto as well as representatives from the International Exchange Office and academic departments and renewed the MOU. Both sides further expanded the scope of collaboration and exchanged views on optimizing faculty exchange mechanisms, joint organization of international academic conferences. In particular, the two sides discussed the preparation for establishing a Belt and Road Joint Laboratory, implementation of 2+2 and 3+1 dual degree programs, cooperation at the Master’s level, and the joint development of Master’s and Doctoral degree programs.

On the meeting with the university’s School of Information and School of Engineering, both sides introduced respective research strengths, reached consensus on cooperative research directions and discussed joint applications for Sino-Hungarian intergovernmental research projects as well as management mechanisms for joint laboratories. The delegation visited the university’s History Museum, research centers, and the Confucius Institute. They exchanged views with Cui Xianjun, Dean of the Debrecen Confucius Institute, on topics such as Sino-Hungarian cultural exchanges, the establishment of Confucius Institute and Luban Workshop, injecting new momentum into cross-cultural educational cooperation.

At B&R Industrial Automation (B&R) in Austria, Mario Tutzer, Head of Educational Support Department, introduced the technological strengths, company history, industrial layout, talent development strategy, and International Engineer Training Camp program. With the vision of jointly establishing the Intelligent Manufacturing Collaborative Innovation Center, both sides engaged in strategic planning on topics such as the introduction of enterprise-certified course systems, the implementation of industry-oriented technical training, joint research on key technologies, and the cultivation of outstanding engineer talent, aiming to develop highly skilled technical professionals who can adapt to future industrial development.

During the visit to HTL Braunau, Austria, President Schneeberger Gerda shared the university’s history, the philosophy of its five-year engineer training program and the practical achievements. Building on the shared practice-oriented educational approach, the two sides discussed  partnership in areas such as vocational teacher training, student internships, faculty exchanges, and short-term credit programs. The delegation visited classrooms and laboratories in fields including robotics maintenance and operation, electronic technology, information technology, multimedia production, and mechanical engineering to see how students tackle real-world industrial challenges. The campus tour helped the delegation to learn the university’s project-integrated curriculum design system, the mechanisms to introduce company projects, and the comprehensive management model that involves deep engagement of industry mentors in teaching. This provided valuable insights for the reform of practical teaching at SSPU.
