Delegation from University of Applied Sciences Europe from Germany Visit SSPU

On the morning of October 9, delegation of University of Applied Sciences Europe (UE) in Germany visited SSPU. The delegation consisted of President Maurits van Rooijen and Prof. Jiré Gözen,Vice President for International Affairs and Institutional Development. SSPU President Xie Huaqing and Vice President Ding Bin met with the delegation.

President Xie extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He first expressed gratitude to President van Rooijen for serving as a member of SSPU Council and having provided valuable advice for SSPU’s reform and development. President Xie also sincerely thanked President van Rooijen for his kind wishes on the occasion of SSPU’s 65th anniversary and positive vision for the collaboration between the two institutions. President Xie noted that since the establishment of partnership, the two universities have maintained close exchanges and interactions and have achieved substantive progress in student mobility. He hoped that both sides would further expand the scope of cooperation, deepen cooperation connotation and jointly advance various collaborative initiatives to achieve concrete outcomes.

President Maurits van Rooijen expressed gratitude for SSPU’s hospitality. He gave an overview of UE from development history, campus network to disciplinary strengths, dual education model, university-industry collaboration, and international engagement. He emphasized that SSPU is a key partner for UE with promising prospects for collaboration, and expected that both sides would continue to deepen exchanges and push forward the partnership into more tangible achievements.

Vice President Ding Bin remarked that the close exchanges between the two sides in the earlier stages have laid a solid foundation for cooperation and looks forward to further strengthening deep-level exchanges and collaboration in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, teaching, and scientific research.

The two sides had discussions and reached broad consensus on dual-degree programs at the Bachelor and Master’s levels in fields as computer science, business and arts, exchange student programs, short-term programs including Shanghai Summer School and art workshops, faculty exchanges, collaborative research and co-organization of  academic conferences. Heads of President Office, International Office, School of Computer and Information Engineering, School of Economics and Management and School of Art and Design attended the meeting.

Following the meeting, the delegation took a campus tour to the teaching and research facilities of School of Computer and Information Engineering and School of Art and Design and exchanged ideas with the Deans and faculty members.
